Jenny has been involved in Emergency Planning & Preparedness, and Response for over 30+ years nationally and internationally within the public, private and NGO sectors. Within the past 10+ years she has been passionate around enhancing organisational resilience using a holistic model focusing on organisational culture, and empowering organisations to build capabilities to turn potential threats into opportunities through robust business continuity and risk management planning.

Emergency Manager – Canterbury and West Coast District Health Boards (2014-2018) Primary, secondary and tertiary level facilities. Providing a predictable, integrated and sustainable whole of health system response to emergencies and/or events that cause disruption to business as usual, working in partnership with all supporting agencies. This role is all hazards based both natural and internal hazards. A large proportion of this role was focused around mitigating and managing risks.

Project Manager for tsunami relief project in Phuket Thailand on behalf of the New Zealand Government and NZ sponsoring organisations (2004-2006), involved initially in conducting DNA on the deceased alongside Thai Forensic Team, restoration and retraining projects, supporting and counselling orphaned children-rehousing, other identified projects.

  • Compiling and writing an emergency care manual for disadvantaged nations
  • Involved in establishing and teaching emergency care programmes to health workers in Laotian Hospitals/villages (pioneered programme 2003-this work is ongoing)
  • Teacher/Curriculum developer – Anglican Relief Development Agency- Skills Development Centre (Lao PDR) inclusive of health & safety components.
  • External Consultant for NGO and Ministry of Health (Lao PDR) Full independent review of an ongoing Primary Health Project in Laos
